There are two level up rewards in the game and one of them is the Energy Chest. Energy Chest can be gained when you collect enough experience points and level up, or you can buy it from shop. Energy Chest gives you different amounts of energy.
Energy Chest do not have a cooldown period and it is not mergeable. You can place it on your board and tap on it to spawn the energy inside.
